A healthy diet is only one component of being healthy but it does not replace exercise which works out your joints, muscles, keeps bone strong and most importantly works your heart muscle - food cannot accomplish that.   To gain in a healthy way - just choose the superstars of the food groups: Fruits and veggies of all kinds Fat free dairy products Nuts and seeds Healthy lean proteins (white meats, fish, beans, legumes, eggs and egg whites, high protein pasta, soy) Healthy fats like olive oil, avocado, nuts Whole grain choices
