Q: I have an exercise plan to lose weight, Have I picked the right one? What about food?

I am a 27 year old male  I stand about 5 7 and I weigh about 185, so I am over weight.  I have been lifting for 30 min, and running 2 miles and biking six about 3-4 times a week for one month and been running and biking for two months. Is this a good workout for losing weight? I have seen some weight loss but not as much as I had hoped. Also,  how should I be eating to speed up the fat burning process?  Are there things I absolutely need to avoid?

You need a balanced eating plan that runs about 1800-1900 calories daily.  Fruits -4 servings

                      Veggies - 4-5 servings

                      Protein - 8 ounces

                      Fat free dairy - 2 servings

                      Grains - 4-5 small servings

                      Fats - a couple of servings - mostly monounsaturated

 

You can google the superstars from each group and calories per serving for further guidance.

 

I would add a bit more distance on the running - you could work up to 4-5 miles and also add some hills and valley runs to keep yourself challenged.

If you can  - I'd extend one weight training day to 45 minutes and add pushup, tricep pushups and some interval training

 

If you are dropping 103 pounds most weeks, your fine.
