I'm 20 years old, I run everyday alternating between slightly uphill streets and downhill streets, I dont stop and generally I eat very light healthy meals. I have a pretty typicall body type but I'm unhappy with the size of my upper legs. I'd very much like to slim them down and I really hope the running I've started doing will help. Any advice will help
It will help, but try to run longer once 20 minutes starts to get easier. Go up to 30 minutes at that point and so on. It shouldn't take you that long to go up in increments of 5 or 10 minutes, but dont be discouraged either way. What you are doing for your heart is great whether your legs reflect it of not.
Think of where you'll be 50 years from now. If, through these 20minutes+ of running a day you bring your resting heart rate down just 1 beat per minute, you will arrive at age 70 with 26 million fewer heartbeats than if you remained at the current pulse rate. Imagin the wear and tear you are saving yourself. The running is also excellent for your brain because it keeps oxygen levels high and carbon dioxide levels very low.
