Q: Possible Reaction to Centrum Oral Multivitamin

Have you ever heard of an allergic reaction to Centrum multivitamin pills?  I had a rash that developed on my hands, feet, legs, arms, buttocks, and in my mouth.  I was very tired and developed a sore throat.  I had a biopsy done and the results came back that the rash was an allergic reaction to something.  The only thing I had changed recently that I could remember was I had switched from an equate brand multivitamin to the Centrum multivitamin.    Have you ever heard of anything like this?  It lasted just over 4 weeks.  I only took the pills for 2-3 weeks and then went back to my other vitamin because I was so tired and sluggish...?????

the only thing i can think of is (a) it was a coincidence and something else or (b) there may be some additive, preservative unique to the formulary.

I had the same problem. someone told me that Centrum is not the cleanest vitamin. Now what that exactly means I can't tell you, but the rash developed on my face.

My wife and I had a similar experience. At first we thought it might be a change of soap, but the nature of the rash timing and the body location led us to believe it was nothing to do with the soap and the new vitamin was the culprit.

Some multivitamins use 'Junk' to bind the tablet ingredients. I can only conclude that it is the junk that we both reacted to.

I had taken Centrum for years and had not had any issues. Then, 2 months ago bought a new bottle and after taking one my stomache started to burn really bad and developed a severe rash on torso. I thought it was a food reaction to something else-did not even consider the vitamin. About 3 days later I took another vitamin without any food or anything before or after and had the same horrible reation. I knew at that point that it was the vitamin and not something else. I found a daily multi-vitamin that is vegan and 100% raw at a local vitamin store and think they are great. See if you can find something like that. I feel your body can absorb vitamins better if they are in a natural state anyhow.
