When do I know I have lost enough weight?

Lisa17
06/09/08

My goal was to fit back into my old clothes, which were a size 8.  I am now wearing them, they are a little bit snug and I figure I want to lose 10-15 more pounds just to say that I weigh under 150 for the first time since giving birth to my son.

My problem is:  What do I do with all of my size 8 clothes?  Will that additional 10 pound weight loss put me at a 6?  I see all of these weight loss stories of women wearing a size 4 or so and they are my height.  So, when do we know when to stop?  Should I be happy at 148 pounds or will that put me at a size 6 and give me a closet full of size 8's that are too big?

Thanks for your advice, this is really troubling to me.  By the way, I was 193 pounds when I started my weight loss journey.

Thanks again,

Lisa

Hello Lisa17

The easiest way to check if you are in a healthy weight range is to calculate your BMI (body mass index). There is a bmi checker right here on the website. For the extra cloths: either you can hem them yourself, or take the ones you dont want anymore over to the nearest shelter, free store, or other place where underprivelaged people may be able to use what you had no more use for. This may be a wonderful reason to go shopping! Try losing the weight and saving a little money so that when you get down to a healthy BMI you can take yourself out for a wardrobe change.

sorry about the delay.
