Q: I am skinny but I need to lose some fat.

I am 19, 167cm 43kg and obviously female.

I never been on a diet and never exercise ever since I dropped PE from my high schooling years.

I eat anything I want, from fruits to fastfood, pastas to pizza, carrots to chocolate.

I am healthy and energetic but I have one problem.

I do not have a flat stomach and often bulges out when I binge on food. I have thin arms and legs but carry a thick waist that needs adjusting.

My question is, how do I lose fat ONLY around my abdominals without starving myself through malnutrition and without suffering from strenuous exercise at the gym?

It would be great if an expert or anyone close recommend the following;

1. What I should eat more and what I should avoid, please be precise.

(For example fruits I heard contains high amount of sugar and probably will exacerbate my problem?)

2. Possible amount of food and what time I should consume each serving.

This is my typical day when I eat food:

Breakfast: 8am - My gag response tells me to stay away from food at these hours

Snack: 10am - Fruit and nuts bar

Lunch: 11~12pm - (30% of total amount of day's food)

Dinner: 5~7pm - (55%)

Late night feast: 10pm~12am - (15%)

3. Types of exercise that I could do at home.

(Anything similar to stomach crunches, sorry it is completely out of my league.)

Your advices will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I cannot bring myself to tell you to do anything to lose weight. It would be against my better judgement considering your current height and weight. However try to stop doing you 'late night feasts' as they are likely the heaviest contributors to your problem. Also as for your fruit question, i would say do not eat a huge amount of fruit, but fruits like blueberries are still EXCELLENT for your overall health. Hope this helped

Hi,

For about 5 days, I had no late night eating at all and spent 10 minutes doing the "bicycle" on the mat before I sleep. The result, I dropped nearly a kilo that had been hugging my abdominals. Thank you for your advice, it helped me to understand that abolishing late night eating was the best way to be and feel lighter and healthier.

Well the only thing I can tell you about the food would be to avoid the greasy fast foods and watch your portion sizes. As for the exercise routines you could try doing various ab workouts such as crunches, and planks. If you go to youtube.com and type in ab workouts you'll have a wide selection to look at. Also I would try maybe doing a walk on a treadmill to get your heart rate up, this helps with losing any kind of fat. Also it's very hard to target any particular area you want to lose fat so don't get too frustrated if it takes a while to see results.

Thank you for your suggestion, I researched about some ab workouts and found out that doing the bicycle on the mat is one of the most efficient way to cut down the fat around the waist esp lower section. It has been only 5 days since I changed my lifestyle and I am already seeing and feeling significant difference.
