Q: How do I Lose the Last Ten Pounds???

I'll be 20 at the end of the month. 3 months ago I was 160 pounds. At 5'5" and 142 pounds, I feel great. Everyone has noticed how much better I look and its given me great encouragement. My goal weight was between 130 and 135 pounds which is considered ideal for my medium frame but I've been at a standstill for almost 3 weeks now. I know I can still lose the next 5 to 10 pounds because I can see that I still have it. Im determined to reach my goal weight by the end of summer but I don't want to cut my calories any further because im already only eating between 1200 and 1400 calories a day. I run at least every other day but my asthma prevents me from running far. Does anyone know why I would have suddenly stopped showing progress? And does anyone have any tips for me? what should I be eating and what types of exercises should I be doing?

Congrats, you have come a long way. Now for the final push. Your goal weight is probably not a matter of calorie quantity, but of quality. Many of my patients find it useful to show me their food journal. So, without knowing what you are eating here are some general guidelines:

 

Eat More:

 1. Vegetables

 2. Fruits

 3. Nuts

 4. Water (just plain ol' water)

 

 

Eat None:

 1. Flour (or products that contain flour)

 2. Animal Fat (go vegetarian)

 3. Sugar (corn syrup containing products included)

 4. Processed grains (like that box of cereal you might grab for Breakfast)

 

You and anyone should feel free to send me (via private message) their food journal for advice.
