Q: Overheating when exercising; Helpful or not?

I have a friend over 50, who believes that working out with layers of clothes, including a sweatshirt with the hood up helps him lose weight. I think it is setting him up for a heart attack or stroke. Help!

He will simply sweat more, not lose any excess body fat. He could become dehydrated which means a little less weight on the scale. Not a great idea especially in the summer heat.
