Any Advice?
Hi Riley,
Sounds like you are on the right track and it's great you are thinking about what's best for your health!
Make sure you're working hard enough during your run to make the most of the 2 1/2 miles. You can use a simple "talk test". If you can run and talk with no problem, pick up the pace. If you have to take a breath every 3-5 words you're just right. If you're gasping for breath after every word - slow down. The sit-ups and push-ups are great, but consider getting involved in a weight lifting (maybe there's a class or group and school that can get you familiar with lifting weights - you don't want to hurt yourself!). Lifting weights will build muscle, which increases your metabolism, and you'll burn more calories throughout the day.
As far as healthy foods, talk to whoever does your grocery shopping and let them know you are trying to eat healthier or what specifically you'd like to have in the cupboards for snacks. Fruits and veggies in the house mean you can grab a healthy apple or orange versus not so great chips.
Stick with it and you'll see results!
It's also possible, you've hit that time in puberty where it's normal for your weight to increase. Be realistic about your size - are you trying to be slimmer than is good for your body? Calculate your BMI (which you can find a calculator on this site) to see where your weight falls.
All the best,
