I'm not sure why you want to gain weigt but let me suggest a weight training program that can pack on muscle poundage - maybe 10 -12 pounds.  I'd err on the side of increasing my lean protein choices - white skinless meat, fish, beans and legumes, eggs and egg whites, fat free dairy products (watching the carbohydrate count).

You do need to learn how to count carbohydrates and have a dietician decide what your daily carb exchange count should be daily.

I'd get a program from a personal trainer that emphasizes somewhat heavier weight challenges.

The previous answer is correct. Did a doctor or nutritionist suggest weight gain or strength training?  The exercise and th carb counting along with some good protein should level your glucose readings.  Try to get to a good nutritionist and the trainer.  My mother has a great nutrition class as her senior center. If you attend one, ask about some classes.
