exercising immediately before evening meal?
Diabetic husband excercises (walks one mile) to "work up an appetite" immediatley before eating big dinner meal around 5pm or 6pm, then eats every hour till goes to bed at 10pm. sometimes wakes up and "has to eat again or he can't sleep". Says he's healthy because he's eating light in morning and noon meals. Is the excercise doing any good at all? He weighs 300lbs. but lost 60lbs last year, put back on most of it after eating all night binges. Age is 47. Thinks the walks are working even though eating immediately after. Also thinks white rice is okay to eat and eats very heavy carbs and proteins.
Well something is better than nothing and the walking is beneficial but is probably not enough to make him lose weight and get his weight and diabetes under control. He can try fitness walking. Click here to read my article on fitness walking there is also a video with tips.
It sounds like your dear husband is over eating. Click here to use the calorie calculator to estimate the number of daily calories your husband needs to eat to lose weight Not only does it sound like he is over eating, it appears he prefers highly refined processed carbs which are not good for him. If he wants to lose weight and increase his energy levels he has to opt for wholesome, whole grain products such as brown rice or whole grain breads. Eating highly refined carbs makes his body less sensitive to insulin which does not help his diabetes and will make it worse. Less sensitivity to insulin also tells the body to store food as fat. But where do you start?
First, try to get quantity or amount of food under control by decreasing his appetite naturally. This tip works wonders - a book was written about it and so many people have lost weight with just this tip. Drink a glass of water and an apple BEFORE every meal. Breakfast, lunch, dinner 3 apples and 3 glasses of water.
