Q: very low calorie diet and exercise

for 3 weeks now i have dropped my calories to 500-600 a day and i workout alot.lifting wieghts jogging and brisk walking.i have heard that decreasing ur calories this low could be a problem bc ur body will go into starvation mode and turn the food u eat into fat.the thing is i rarely get hunry on my diet i have a strict timed eating and work out routine.i rarely get hunry bc i fill up on very low calorie foods but enough to satisy me.when i do get hunry however i will fill up on water until my next timed eating.i have lost 13 lbs since i started is this a bad way to go about things?

Yes it is - you will plateau soon in terms of weight loss and get very frustrated and the second you add even 100-200 extra calories you will begin to gain weight because your body will want to hold onto every calorie.  You won't sustain the diet - and will also inevitably gain back all those hard earned 'lost pounds."  No one is ever successful that way (long term), and there is no way to fuel your muscles so that they can even perform properly.

 

Get on a balanced plan of atleast 1500 calories - create a smart exercise program that some days just involves aerobic activity and some days combines aerobic/weight training and patiently lose 1 to 3 pounds a week.  as you switch to this diet realize you may gain a few pounds which will be lost over time.
