You can start by eating a better breakfast because what you eat matters more than when you eat. Search for healthier whole grains and eliminate the hidden sugars.
The metabolism works better with the first meal of the day as the biggest calorie meal with the last meal being the least calorie. The last meal should occur at least 3 hours before bedtime so that the body can properly digest before shutting down.
And stay away from the hospital food that is full of empty calories and fat. I should know.. I must have gained 50 pounds while in med school and residency. Those days and pounds are gone now, thank goodness.
