Hello Jen,   No it wasnt bad advice to eat only when you are hungry. However this, like most advice, only generaly works. It wont work for everyone. The problem commonly run into when you wait until you are hungry is then you go and binge and eat alot more than you would have if you werent hungry. The way to counteract this is to eat slowly so you dont over eat (even though it can be hard when you are hungry). Also it is fine to eat on a schedule as well as long as you make sure to eat healthy low fat/sugar/carb foods. Some of all of those is fine, but when compared to the other groups you the amount you consume of those should be minute. Also make sure you are drinking lots of water. This will help you feel less hungry but will also hydrate you and help your body perform all of its functions more efficiently. I hope this was helpful, sorry about the delay getting back to you.
