Hey Sis,
Unfortunately, fast and healthy do not necessarily go hand-in-hand. To be healthy, lose weight, and keep the weight off you want to shoot for losing 1-2 pounds a week. So, if you are trying to drop 40 pounds that is a 6 month committment!
I also suggest switching they way you think. "Diet" implies short term fix, you go on it for a while and then stop. If you want to be healthy, improve your diabetes, and lose weight you need to make changes you stick with for the long term. If is best to find a program that offers support and takes things one step at a time. Change is hard and if you try to tackle everything at once you set yourself up for failure.
Also, weight loss and physical activity go together. You cannot expect to lose weight and keep if off while remaining sedentary. Another plus of being active is improved blood sugar levels. If you are not currently active, always check with your MD before jumping into an exercise program. But, walking is generally a safe, inexpensive activity for everyone.
There are so many different components of successful healthy weight lose that I am briefly touching on them here. I do offer a 9 week program (Balance Program) for weight loss, but there are many options out there. Weight Watchers is a familiar and effective program.
All the best ahieving your weight loss goals,
