Q: I need to lose 15 lbs, and I have been trying to for months. I am 24, I eat fruits, vegetables,

and lean protein, trying to keepmy calories between 1000-1300 per day. In addition I do cardio or jogging for 30min 5 times a week. How come I have not lost pounds OR inches? I also eat a gluten-free diet as celiac disease runs in my family and I have been diagnosed with a wheat sensitivity. What more can I do? This has been so frustrating.

Having recently gone from a size 12 to 4, I can honestly say the biggest changes that helped me accomplish this was eliminating red meat and dairy. Additionally, I stopped drinking fruit juice in the a.m. because the glycemic index for juice is high. Plus, I do not eat boxed cereal for breakfast. Again, the processed grains have a high glycemic index. Being gluten-free that is probably not an issue for you.

 

My exercise program is an hour daily, but that is not how I lost weight (I have been doing that program for 10 years). Nope, it was not until I eliminated animal fat and lowered my glycemic load that I really lost the weight.
