When r u supposed to weigh and measure urself? u get heavier and shorter thruout the day.
Hi. i'm 23, 155 to 160 lbs, and after a full nights rest i'm 5'9 3/4". Then as the day goes on i'll shrink to about 5' 9" (and my weight is closer to 160). I'm curious because this gives me two different BMIs. In the morning my BMI would be a little below 23, while in the evening my bmi is over 23. So I guess my question is what's your true height and weight? Also how accurate is the frame size calculation (I'm apparently a small frame because my fingers clearly overlap). According to some calculations i'm overweight, but people tell me that i'm very thin now. Once I get down to the 150 mark people start telling me I look anorexic (some people think I look 10lbs lighter than I am), but that weight is supposedly fine and healthy for a small frame. My body type is mesomorphic, but mesomorphs supposedly have a medium frame. Well that's that. I know i don't have a large frame, but i think i may have a medium. What are your thoughts. thanks:)
Hi Alex M,
I appreciate your desire to maintain a healthy body weight, but I believe you are over thinking this just a bit. Based on IBW and BMI you are at a healthy body weight.
The IBW for a woman who is 5'9" is 145 pounds +/- 10%, which makes the healthy weight range between 130.5 - 159.5 pounds. The IBW for a man who is 5'9" is 160 pounds +/- 10%, making the weight range between 144 - 176 pounds. Based on those measurements, your weight is in the healthy range for your height.
A BMI of or slightly higher than 23 is within the normal range. So you are at a healthy weight based on BMI as well.
I would focus on weighing and measuring yourself at the same time everyday rather than when during the day to weigh and measure yourself, this allows you to track trends. Your weight is naturally going to go up during the day due to food intake so I wouldn’t worry about that. Many people find it easiest to weight themselves first thing in the morning.
