i use to be extremely skinny and have put on so much weight with in 2 years going from 140 to about 240 and i just really want to loose weight so that i am healthy and so that i look good again..... i am active but i don't always eat the right things.
Hi B,
Losing the extra weight is possible and it's great you're ready to move in that direction!
When it comes to weight loss it's best to take one step at a time for slow and steady results. You want long term lasting weight loss, not a quick fix. Quick fixes usually result in immediate weight loss followed by gaining it back along with a few extra pounds you didn't start with. I would set yourself a realistic goal of ~7 months to lose 60 pounds (that would be a weight loss of 2 pounds/week).
Keep up the regular activity. That is essential to losing the weight and keeping it off. Weight loss requires you to eat a healthy diet and be physically active. Shoot for at least 30 minutes 5 days a week. If you can fit in 60 minutes 5 days a week that's even better.
Next, assess your diet and where you can make improvements. If you want a professional assessment I provide an inexpensive option - Mini Diet Makevoer. Once you narrow it down to your problem areas pick one or two to correct, such as if your drinking 2%, start by switching to 1% or skim. Are you eating lunch out 4 out of 7 days a week? Figure out a way you can start taking a healthy lunch with you. On down the list until you've replaced unhealthy eating habits with a healthy alternative. I provide heart health and weight loss tips through The Heart of Health ezine. You are welcome to check it out and see if it's for you.
As you make changes and step up your activity you'll start to see your clothes fitting looser and the number on the scale going down!
All the best,
