Q: Is the South Beach Diet healthy and does it work?

My Doctor has recommended this to help lose 30+ pounds, and reduce triglycerides and bad cholesterol.

it's Ok - I just don;t like some of the redommendations in the first weeks of the plan and it pushes some unhealthy foods in the name of weight loss/restricts certain fruits.

I think most experts feel the Mediterranean Diet is the healthiest - and will help with cholesterol too - you can google it and see the foods it recommends - then remember to use portion control and add exercise to the formulary. Even a daily walking program will help to nudge cholesterol levels down.
