I am a nurse, and I work from 7pm to 7am.  Most days I work I am unable to eat dinner before work, therefore I eat dinner between 10pm and midnight.  What foods would you suggest I eat at this late hour, and still follow my exercise and diet program (I am on the slim fast diet,  1200-1500 calories a day diet).

Hi Lisa,

I love nurses, they are so caring and sometimes I feel they are better than doctors, so kudos to you and your profession.  As for your question, just eat healthy especially if you are on a 1200 calorie diet.  Most people will lose weight on a 1200 calorie diet just make sure you don't go lower than that because it might trigger your body's starvation response and it might work against you.

The list of foods to eat are just too long to write but I will give you general categories.  The best foods to eat are lean cuts of protein, whole grains, healthy fats such as avacado, cashews and fish. You want foods packaged by mother nature which means that they have not been tampered with too much by manufacturing.

The foods you want to avoid are sugar and fat combined such as donuts, pastries and alcohol such as beer
