Q: 13 year old is constantly hungry and is obese. He sneaks food especially at night.

My whole family is obese. My husband is diabetic. My son 13 year old sneaks food at night especially when in bed. I keep healthier foods in the house but when he is in bed he will get up and have a bowl of cereal. I have cut out anything to eat after 6 pm but he still sneaks. It is a constant battle. He and I are both very hungry from 3pm on. Could there be something physically wrong that we are both very hungry this late in the day. We both eat breakfast and lunch but are famished from 3:00 on.

I am gald you asked this question.  First I would encourage you to talk to your physician to see if there aren't any underlying conditions in your son.

The situation you describe leads me to believe that you both might be at too great of a calorie deficit.  A calorie deficit is when you are buring more calories that what you are taking in.  Generally speaking a safe calorie deficit is between 500-1000 calories a day. When you are at too great of a calories deficit the you will also experience a nutrient deficit.

When this happens your body is missing vital nutrients that it needs to function.  This then leads to cravings.  Sometimes these cravings become uncontrollable and ultimately lead to the behavior you described in your question.

The absolute best advice I can give you is to find a qualified nutritionist in your area.  They will be able to give you the best meal plan for you and your son to help you and him eat less and feel satisfied.

I hope this helps.
