A study published in the journal Translation Psychiatry found that a blood test may be able to detect depression. The test study examined a panel of 28 biological markers in blood and found that 11 of them could predict the presence depression with medium to high accuracy.
Researchers hope that a 'measurable index of an illness" (i.e. biological proof) like depression will lessen the stigma of seeking treatment for such an elusive disease, especially among teenagers.
