Alcohol may shrink the brain

New research suggests that drinking alcohol may shrink the brain. Researchers say some loss of brain volume is a normal part of aging, but in a recent study, scientists found that the more alcohol a person consumed per week, the smaller his or her brain volume. People who abstained from drinking had larger brain volume than moderate, light, and heavy drinkers, and women appeared to be the most affected.
