Study: Fiber lowers stroke risk, but fish oil doesn't

Fish oil doesn't help prevent strokes, but a high-fiber diet might, two new studies suggest. Dr. Craig Anderson, the lead researchers of a study on fish oil, says that fish oils aren't as effective at preventing cardiovascular risks as people claim them to be. But Dr. Angela Besanger, a nutritionist, reports that eating 20 to 35 grams of fiber per day may reduce stroke risk. Fiber also may result in better outcomes in people who do suffer a stroke.
