Obese teens who are put on a low-calorie diet may not be helped by
going on the diet med Meridia, a Dutch study suggests. In previous
studies Meridia was associated with increasing metabolism and
helping adults on a low-calorie diet lose weight more quickly than
with diet changes alone. But researchers say Meridia appears to
have no effect on teens' metabolic rate.
