A study of more than 100,000 adults has found that those who eat a high-fiber diet have a lower risk of COPD than those who rarely eat whole grains, researchers say. Out of the 111,580 who participated in the 16-year study, less than one percent were diagnosed with COPD. Of those diagnosed, those who ate the least fiber--mainly from whole grains--had a one third lower risk of developing the lung disease than those who ate very little fiber.
