Too much red meat may reduce lifespan

A study by the U.S. National Cancer Institute has found that eating a diet high in red meat and processed meat could increase the risk of dying from heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's, stomach ulcers, and other diseases. The study of 500,000 people found that if those who ate the most red meat (about 4.5 ounces per day) reduced their levels to the amount eaten by the lowest 20 percent (about half an ounce per day) it would save 11 percent of men's lives, and 16 percent of women's lives.
