Two new studies find no evidence that bisphosphonate drugs raise the risk of esophageal cancer. These results counter FDA reports of 23 patients who reported esophageal cancer after taking Fosamax. Experts say the results of the new studies are not conclusive, and esophageal cancer in patients appears to be rare, but they recommend that patients who have the pre-cancerous condition Barrett's esophagus consider other types of bone-building drugs just in case.
