According to researchers, a modified Atkins low-carb plan that substitutes plant-based protein for animal proteins may help dieters lose weight and lower their cholesterol. The study, published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, found that dieters on the so-called "eco-Atkins" diet lost the same amount of weight as those on a higher-carb, vegetarian diet.
