Europe To Add Impotence Warning On Cigarettes

Posting Date: 04/21/2000

The fact that cigarettes can cause lung cancer and heart disease doesn?t seem to bother smokers anymore. Also, a report showing that where there?s smoke there?s no sexual fire is old news.

So, how do we get people to pay attention to the warnings about how cigarette smoking affects health? Well, the European Union has come up with a new message that will go on cigarette packs telling men how smoking can hurt their sexual performance.

The funny thing about this campaign is the graphic that is going to be used to put the message across. Can you guess what they?re going to use?

While the wording isn?t finalized, the illustration is fairly potent. It?s an image of a drooping cigarette ash along with a message warning about sexual impotence or erectile dysfunction due to the decreased blood flow to the penis.

The warning will be first introduced in Canada but all the European nations will eventually require the impotence message on cigarettes, according to a report from the European Union?s Council of Ministers.

Hey, you?ve got to love the world we live in when it takes this kind of graphic image and message to get men to consider giving up cigarettes
