A good piercer has a lot of experience with these things, but once they?re infected, if you?re dealing with some nasty bacteria, that?s probably way out of their league. It raises all of questions about licensure and safety and all this kind of stuff.

A dermatologist may say take it out and let it heal, but a dermatologist who has experience with this may be able to help you and save the piercing. So you?re going to come up against that. But these notoriously take way longer to heal than other piercings. And once again, if it?s infected, all bets are off because you?re talking about something very different there.
