Wrinkles Be Gone: Laser Treatments?

Posting Date: 01/18/1999

So, if you want to get the laser treatment, find out everything you can about the doctor's experience in performing this procedure. It's important to get a physician who will show you the real 'before' and 'after' photos of people he or she treated - not just the best case.

Here's another important tip: look carefully for any lighting differences in the photos. Light from the side will highlight wrinkle depths, like the deep canyon shadows you can see from an airplane when the sun is setting. That's in contrast to light aimed straight into the face which will hide wrinkles, perfect for an 'after' shot.

Doctors won't show you their worst cases, of course, but ask about how often the doctor has performed the procedure, where he or she learned how to do it, and if the doctor initially treated patients under another physician's supervision. If they don't want to answer these questions, leave.

Just remember, this treatment isn't a facelift, but, then again, it isn't the major surgery you have to go through with a facelift.
