Symptoms

Folic acid deficiency may cause:

  • Diarrhea
  • Gray hair
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Peptic ulcer
  • Poor growth
  • Swollen tongue

Signs and tests

Folate deficiency can be diagnosed with a blood test. Pregnant women usually have such blood tests during prenatal checkups.
