Cytomegalovirus esophagitis
Symptoms
Symptoms include:
- Difficult and painful swallowing
- Low-grade fever
- Mouth sores (oral lesions)
Signs and tests
- Blood and
urine culture - CMV antigenemia
Cold agglutinins - Culture of cells obtained from an esophageal brushing

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) with or without abiopsy
