Prevention

Preventive therapy is recommended for:

  • Patients with AIDS who have CD4 counts below 200
  • Bone marrow transplant recipients
  • Organ transplant recipients
  • People who take long-term, high-dose corticosteroids
  • People who have had previous episodes of this infection
