- Chemotherapy drugs used to treat cancer
- Diabetes
- Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and

- Weakened immune system (such as from
HIV /AIDS )
The condition may occur in infants and toddlers who are still in diapers and who have a history of anal fissures.
