Ozena

Definition

Ozena is a disease of the nose in which there is a a wasting away of the bony ridges and internal mucous membranes.

Nasal crusting, discharge, and a very bad smell are other usual symptoms of ozena.

Ozena may develop after a long period of nasal swelling.

Ozena is also called atrophic rhinitis.
