The normal odor of urine is aromatic.


What abnormal results mean

Abnormal urine odor may indicate:

  • Hepatic (liver) failure
  • Ketonuria
  • Maple sugar urine disease (very rare)
  • Phenylketonuria (rare)
  • Rectal fistula
  • Urinary tract infection
