Normally, there are no antibodies present.

What abnormal results mean

A positive test may be due to:

  • Chronic active hepatitis
  • Cirrhosis
  • Infectious mononucleosis

The test also helps distinguish autoimmune hepatitis from systemic lupus erythematosus.
