What abnormal results mean

Abnormal results may be due to:

  • Heart valve disorders
  • Pericardial effusion
  • Tumor of blood vessels or pericardium (around the heart)
  • Atrial myxoma
  • Heart problems that you are born with, such as pulmonary atresia
  • Scarring of heart muscle
  • Damage or death to the heart muscle, seen after a heart attack
