With proper preparation prior to a test or procedure, a toddler's
fear and anxiety may be reduced. Preparing a child for a test may
include going through the steps of the procedure, explaining the
body part which may be involved, or describing how the test may
feel. Regardless of the test or procedure performed, the child will
probably cry. The most helpful reassurance for the child is the
parent's presence.
