How long after stopping toprol would ed continue?

My husband started taking Toprol on June 6, 2008 but experienced problems with gas and stopped after a couple of weeks. About that time, he experienced ed. That has continued to date 7/16/08 and I was wondring if it will get better by itself after more time.
