I have retinitis pigmentosa. Is there a safe pill I cant take with this genetic condition.

I am in my late 20s and have been diagnosed with RP.  My ED problems are related to some anxiety I get during sex.  I am currently talking with a counselor to help me get over this.  In the meantime I have been taking viagra on an "as needed" basis. Recently, I noticed an advertisement stating those with RP should not take viagra.  Since this has not made my vision worse up to this point is it safe to continue taking it or is there a different brand I should take?

Hi Nate,

All three of the erectile dysfunction medications have health warnings with regard to sight, in particular they warn against a rare interaction called NAION, a sudden loss of eyesight in one or both eyes. Given this, there must be a reason that you shouldn't take these medications. You should speak to your doctor about this. According to the notes, the doctor can make modifications in dosage depending on condition, that might make it ok for you to take them. You can read about Viagra here, Cialis here and Levitra here.

Good luck and let us know how you make out at the doctor's office!
