I have been diagnosed with very aggressive prostrate cancer in October 2005 during my yearly check-up at the Urologist. I had no symptoms at all. I have received 6 weeks radiation and also a Zoladex implant every 3 months for 2 years - the last one in July 2007. I go for tests every 6 months to the Oncologist and I am still clean. Before I was diagnosed, I never had any sex problems or a low libido. Now I have no interest in sex at all - I suppose that it is very unlikely that my condition will reverse spontaneously. What are my options? I am 59 years of age.

Zoladex will cause your testosterone to fall to castrate levels, eliminating your libido and resulting in erectile dysfunction. After the Zoladex is stopped, most patients will gradually have a return of their testosterone levels to normal values, however some patients may never obtain a normal testosterone level again.

It's great that you are testing clear after the treatments. If you want to check out the latest treatments for prostate cancer, you can read about them here. Specifically you can read about Zoladex here. Unfortunately Zoladex is listed as a drug (among many) that will cause impotence. You can read more about the drugs that affect erectile dysfunction here.
I hope this information gives you what you need to be able to talk to your doctor and manage your care. Together, you and he can make a plan that will help you get back to your full life.
