I had a total prostatectomy for cancer with no recurrency. I am 71.  I alwayd had a very active sexual life. My wife is 45.

Hi Joe,

After prostatecomy the usual practice is to tell men that they may experience a period of erectile dysfunction and this is quite normal. Up to two years has traditionally been the 'accepted' period. Recent research has cast some doubts on this and has pointed out that additional damage may occur during this period and can develop a kind of scar tissue that itself can contribute to erectile dysfunction. For this reason, opinion is moving towards encouraging men to use pumps or other stimulants more or less immediately following surgery, based on the use-it-or-lose-it principle.

You can obviously obtain an erection so the machinery still appears to be working. Have you considered a pump? Is it possible the problem is more psychological than physical?
