Q: Erection Question from 22 year old male... Can't get very hard. Please Help.

Hi there, I'm a 22 year old male and recently noticed I can't seem to have a strong erection anymore... I'm a still a virgin and I used to masturbate 1 or 2x everyday for awhile now. However, recently, I have gone over a week or so without doing it at all. Yesterday, I noticed I can't seem to have a strong erection when in the shower. When I woke up today, I realized I didn't even have a very strong erection... Again, I used to. I am unable to get an erection now by just thinking about some of my ex gf, which used to work... I have been stressed out about a ton of things over the last 3 months or so and this obviously isn't helping with that now that I've noticed this problem. I'm really quite upset about this as I know I'm too young to be having this problem. When I masturbate I get an erection that eventually gets fairly hard and then after orgasm immediately gets limp...

I work out everyday, I'm only 5% body fat, so I would say I'm in good shape although I only way 138lbs. I take a daily multivitamin so I don't believe I'm lacking any nutrients per say. I have noticed my arm hurting tingling or falling asleep lately like you have when you have heart problems, but it could simply be from stress. What can I/should I do? Should I try not masturbating for several weeks and then see if everything is ok? Or are there some vitamins or supplements I can try to see if it can correct things back to the way they were? I could really use some answers... Thank you.

Ryan - I think that Flavio is probably right but even though you are very active and fit it would be a good idea to get a physical workup especially if you have not had one for a number of years. As you know, even people who are in great physical shape can have underlying health issues that don't crop up full blown until later in life. As Flavio pointed out, anxiety is very powerful and the more focused you become on the problem the more the anxiety is likely to increase. There is probably little reason to panic at this point! Take it a step at a time and rule out the possible causes until you can isolate the source of the problem.

I'm not an expert, but this seems a case of anxiety - probably the #1 cause of ED. You said you were going through a stressful time in your life - I'm convinced that when you solve those problems, whatever they may be, your erections will improve as well. Don't worry.
