I would assume that the surgeon is familiar with any possible "minor variations" in healing or variants in terms of how one side might heal smoothe while the other appears to have this small imperfection.  If he feels extremely comfortable and has examined you I might suggest giving it more time.  If no one else in the community responds, you can always request a second opinion from another surgeon.
