Q: Cant figure out my husband.. is he sick, just not interested, or too old?

My husband is 55 yrs old. For the past 2 years our sex life has been lacking more and more to nothing in between 6 wks or better. He's always tired, back aches, legs aches and can't rest well in the bed. He comes to bed and turns on his stomach, sleeps for awhile then goes to his recliner and curls up in a fetal position and sleeps there for awhile. He says his legs and back aches and he says he rests better in the recliner than in the bed. He is back and forth from the bed to the recliner, grabs his cigarettes and turns on TV and stay in Livingroom, sometimes he will be in the by morning when I awake. Some of his symptoms (I'm concerned about) are: Lower back pain, leg pain, always going to the bathroom (lose stools and irregular flow), if he gets an erection (before sex) I notice he will fondle himself, and his erection will fade during sex or he is ready to ejaculate ( and gets upset when I'm not there) in 2 min. top Sick, uninterested or just too old.

Hi BJ,

Given the outline of symptoms you have just described I would be tempted to put 'sick' at the top of the list. The fact he isn't sleeping properly yet is always tired could point to any number of physical or psychological problems. The same goes for his bowels. It doesn't seem surprising that sex comes way down on his interest list.

If you could persuade your husband to see the doctor I think you will have got over a significant hurdle. What he is experiencing sounds neither normal nor healthy - and it has been going on for at least two years! At his age, I think it's definitely time for a check up and some blood tests. Some of the behavior you describe (aside from the aches) sounds like he may be in quite an amount of pain (getting out of bed and going back to the recliner).

Anyway, these are my thoughts. I hope you manage to resolve the problem soon.
