A new study had found that a single dose of sildenafil, an ingredient in the erectile-dysfunction drug Viagra, may prevent rebound pulmonary hypertension in some infants in intensive care units (ICU). Fifteen infants who were being weaned from inhaled nitric-oxide therapy in the ICU were given a dose of the blood-vessel widening drug while 14 infants were given a placebo.
