I am a 36 year old female who has been in a monogamous relationship for 6 months. Before that I didn't have sex for almost a year and before that, I was with this same person off and on for 2 years.

A week or so ago I thought I was getting a yeast infection (itching and irritation) but I didn't notice the same symptoms as the one I'd gotten before after taking some antibiotics. I kept looking when it kept bothering me and Tuesday I noticed a sore about the size of a tictac that was flat, kind of round/oval, with kind of a flesh colored middle and red ring around the outside. Also the lymph node in my groin area on this same side has been swollen and tender for a few days prior to that (maybe Sunday).

I'm waiting on my doctor's appointment (Monday morning) and over the past couple of days there have been a few more little tiny blisters to appear. If I run my finger over them, they pop. They are very very tiny.

Then last night and today I've noticed my lower back and my entire right leg (same side as rash) are very sensitive to touch. Just wearing jeans and having them rub on my leg hurts! I was hoping maybe it was shingles instead but I've read shingles can't give you a rash down there.

My boyfriend isn't having any problems. He says in the past he's gotten what he thought was a heat rash a few times, but it hasn't happened in years but my problem has him paranoid.

I don't have any discharge except for the little bit of leakage that comes from the rash. No fever, nothing else really that I can think of. I guess I'm just hoping for a miracle that it's not herpes.

There are two types of HSV, HSV type 1 and 2, and both can cause genital herpes.
